Better Not to Share It

“NOT EVERYONE WANTS WHAT’S BEST FOR YOU.”

It’s common nowadays to update our day-to-day activities on social media. Why do we do it? What’s the purpose or the need to share our personal life with the public?

We think that everyone we talk to is our friend, but the truth is “not everyone you talk to is your friend.” A few might think for your good and share their thoughts, but there are some who will only say negative things about your ideas. There are also people who talk to you just to grab your thoughts and ideas, and without your knowledge, they will shine with them as their own. Not everyone deserves to know what’s happening in your life.

“STOP TELLING PEOPLE MORE THAN WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW.”

We tend to overshare our thoughts and ideas with everyone, thinking that they all are our well-wishers. When you share, you leak your positive energy. Oversharing can happen in many ways.

Especially with social media these days, it’s very easy to overshare your daily struggles, life plans, or routines. We live in an age of social media where we share everything with strangers—from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed. If you are a blogger or influencer, it’s okay if you are trying to grow a successful brand.

But do you think it’s necessary in all fields?

What about in your workplace? During breaks, if you tend to have conversations with your colleagues, one topic will definitely lead to another. If you don’t feel so connected to the person you’re sharing with, it’s better not to share at all. Set your boundaries and just discuss professional thoughts, not personal ones. Some people might use you for their own benefit.

Be cautious about sharing personal details with strangers to maintain privacy and security.

Just assume you have a great business idea. You share it with someone you think is your friend. They listen to your ideas—but what if they begin working in silence without your knowledge and start their business with your ideas? Do not share your goals or projects with others until they are successfully completed or the results are permanent.

This even applies to your relationships. Keep a new relationship private until it becomes serious and stable, or reaches a point like marriage or long-term commitment.

“KEEP IT PRIVATE UNTIL IT’S PERMANENT.”

The goal is to protect your progress from negative outside influences and doubt—and to shine in front of people who were waiting for your downfall.
